Thanks BITD - exactafrickinlutely what I was trying to put forth. Evidently we have numerous questions and misunderstandings about this "feature"...

Nice observation flash, I'll give you some rep points for that!!

I myself consider smart questions leading to public knowledge gain at least as reputable as smart answers. So what's the point here?

Here's one, I have 11 rep points. But I have 2 green bars. some people have one bar and more rep points. there might be people with more green bars and fewer rep points. is there a conection between rep points and green bars? I find if I agree with someone alot I can only give them points once.

Because there is confusion regarding the difference between Rep Power and Rep Points, I will try to explain this the best I can.

A member's Rep Power is simply the number of points he or she can add or subtract from another member. By default, each member on this site starts with 10 points. The green bars under each of your names represents Rep Power. Your Reputation isn't just built by receiving points from others (which seems to be the main concern here); other factors contribute to this as well, such as registration date, post count, forum activity, usergroup classification, etc.

Also, when a member's Reputation increases, the number of points they can add or subtract from fellow members also increases (this is the Rep Power number seen at the top right of each post).

Thanks
Here's a link to a thread on the subject.

http://lilhonda.com/webboard/f11/whot-does-mean-ben-8556/

Any member can add to or take away from you Rep Power by clicking on the Star Badge just below that persons post in any thread. One catch, you can only add Rep Power once to each member.

You can see who added or removed Rep Power and their comments by clicking on the settings tab in the top right corner of the web page. I gave you some Rep Power and added a comment. Check it out!

Ben, The guy that started this thread and the poster after you both have 0 rep power, what is the difference between rep power and points? You stated everyone started with 10 rep points. Also because you have 10 rep power you can remove 10 rep power from another poster?

Couldn't agree with you more, but do you consider a question about rep points a smart question , especially since it has been answered before in another thread? Not saying it's a stupid question, just don't see it being worth rep points, if there is any merit to the rep points. Thats the point.
