Does anyone know if a XL or SL 70 speedometer work on a CT 70. Is the gear ratio in the hub or the speedometer.

Thanks

I have 2 CT speedos (3 speed) & 1 XL speedo (also 3 speed) & they are virtually identical. If you look for the XL or other bike that was more common with the 4 speed tranny, you get the 4 speed speedo..The mounting brackets are different to the top plate, but the speedos are the same..

I have a honda 90 speedo on a ct 70KOH and it reads the right speed against a GPS. , I believe they make up the difference of the wheel dia. in the speedometer drive. The 90 speedo goes to 80mph.

Thanks everyone. I have the same ideal as GT, I wanted one that goes to higher speeds. But I wasn't sure where the difference was made up for wheel size.

That speedo looks good GT

Greg -- All these bike speedo's work off a gear located in the hub -- I've used the 90 speedos on the 70 bikes before as well. Works great .
