St70

Could someone tell me exactly what I have here? Year, color, country of origin by any chance?? Is an st70 frame worth more than a ct70? Don't know much about the st70 but I got a hell of a deal on a 90% complete bike.

Could be a Japanese Domestic Market DAX. Kinda rare here in the U.S. and might have been shipped home by an American servicman back in the day.

Lots of parts from the CT70 will fit but decals will be virtually impossible to find if you need them. I recently fixed one of these for a coworker and we found replacement turn signals in Thailand, not the local Honda parts counter.

Does this bike have a kilometers speedometer?

No speedo attached. I believe it's only the frame that's jdm. It's kind of a Frankenstein parts bike that is mostly there. Came with a ct70 engine. I am really liking the bike and got a great deal. I will definitely look to replace some pieces with the correct st70 parts. Any idea what year it is? Also, what's the name of that color? I love it.

That's a late `69 ST70 VIN and looks to be a "Type 1 general export" model. The VIN tag, if it has one, along with any other remaining decals, might offer other clues...via the language...as to the market for which this bike was originally intended. Unfortunately, several such early examples I've run across have lacked VIN tags - near as I have been able to determine, they're the ST70 equivalent of the early "silver tag" CT70s.

Looks like Candy Sapphire blue, same as CT70 K0 and the most common color I've seen on early STs.

If you're lacking virtually every ST70-specific part, returning it to factory original is going to be very difficult. There's a good chance that this bike had the demountable front end and turn signals - a lot of unobtanium parts. Still, a good base for a phantom model, restomod or custom...and the ST70 VIN makes it a little different than a more common K0.

Yeah I think the bike is nearly all ct70 parts. Frame looks to be the only st70 part. All stickers have been removed besides the main decals. Nice to know the year of the bike, thank you racerx. Does anyone know which aluminum side decals would be appropriate? I have seen a few different styles for the st70.

I've got a few different originals that can be scanned & repopped. However, I won't have time to clean-up the graphics, into usable quality for many weeks. Feel free to contact me via PM...

This frame came with a ct70 motor from a 1980 and 2 chopped up wiring harnesses. I am trying to get the bike running and do a tear down and clean everything up. I have the ignition in one of the wiring harnesses but no key. The harness with the ignition looks to be an older harness because it only has 3 wires in the connector that goes to the stator, whereas the motor has 4 coming from the stator. I'm looking to get spark to the engine somehow. Not worried about any of the electronics at the moment. How would I do this? Ground the black wire coming from the coil and then pull the plug wire to kill the motor? Any suggestions?
