Stripped threads

So, I made the mistake last year of taking one of my bikes to a motorcycle shop here in Las Vegas. I just wanted them to go through it and make sure everything is good. Well when I got it back it was all screwed up. Leaking oil from the side case, broken kill switch and the bolts that hold the chrome engine guard and the kick stand chewed all the threads in the engine case. I have had the guard off before and I know I installed it correctly. How would I go about re-threading the 2 threads in the engine case? Is this possible to do? Thanks MFW

I had the stripped thread issue in the engine case on a CT70 HK0 barn find I picked up a couple of years ago. I didn't know what the best course of action was to fix it, so I purchased a Heli-Coil insert kit and decided to try it myself. I watched a few Youtube videos first, and then gave it a try. It was a very simple job and the 2 stripped holes have held fine for 2 years. I know there are other brands of thread repair inserts out there, but Heli-Coil is an old name and that's the one I used.

X2, I've had zero problems with Helicoils in these locations.

Now that your bike is back together & running leak-free, time for a test ride, sending a brick, via "Special delivery" to the offending shop :brick:
