Not set up to blast or paint frame-size stuff (or learn at $180 a kit.)
Couldnt afford $800 Paint job for our summer project for my teenage son. (Building to sell as his summer job - he's not old enough to flip burgers)
What to do ?
Stumbled on Ayers Garage. Lays down a DEEP hyper-glossy dead match to Honda Candy Ruby Red finish thats tough as nails. Check it out.
Only problem is . . . now I dont want to sell it.:39:
If anyone needs Ayers contact info let me know. I haven't seen him on the forum in a quite a while.

Oh my god that finish has me salivating. What a cool summer job
Haven't heard much from Ayer's Garage lately, but I suspect other members will be pinging him left and right.

Looks awesome!

So how much was it?

I made the mistake of misquoting a price for someone else's work ONCE on here when i was first getting into the hobby and learned my lesson.
But I will tell you that he fixed a couple dents in the frame and a rusty weld in the fork tube and a couple hairline cracks that I didnt even see. . . . All invisable now . . . Oh . . . and he PC'd the black parts a beautiful gloss black and the battery box and latch in a clearcoated chrome PC that is just pretty.
and the price was still an easy call.
The guy is a perfectionist.
You do have to figure in shipping each way. (Which I CAN share) was about $50 each way UPS ground for ONE BIG STOUT BOX. Price of gas and convenience makes that an easy call too . ..

The ruby red sample that I took a picture of against my original paint and posted was from Ayers. The match was dead on in the photo and it looks even better on the frame. Wow

I really like the color and it looks really good, but my question is how can you have a candy color with a powder coat?

Same as paint. Its a color coat on top of a silver or chrome base. You can clear coat with powder too. The technology and materials have come a long way and that candy finish is DEEP . . . really DEEP.

I am fixing to send him a QA50 that I am thinking about doing in pink for the granddaughter. I sure hope he has pink. I am trying to figure out how I should do it. I plan on having the tank PC pink, all the other metal parts on the bike mostly PC glossy black and then the plastic fenders painted pink to match tank. I am wondering if it would be easier to PC match the painted fenders or painted fenders to match the powder coat? I guess the best thing to do would be to ask Ayers, he seems to be a genius when it comes to laying down some color.

BITD . . . as it was explained to me, the only way to "match" PC is by selecting and testing the correct color. (and there are hundreds including PINK) Or in my case the correct basecoast and color. So any plastic parts will always need to be paint matched. Obviously single stage paint will be a lot easier to match than an effect. Thats why when I found this guy's who had the CRR all worked out it made my life easier.
A pink QA under the tree would be pretty sweet for a little girl . . .

Headlight / Fork Match

Here's a decent shot of the color match to a Honda CRR headlight bucket
