To restore or not to restore Newbie?

Hi all I figured this was the best place to ask this question.

I have a 1970 trail 70 Gold in Color manufactured Feb 1970, it's actually older then I am.

The CT70 is probably a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, it has 891 original miles and I'm the second owner. I have the original title in hand. Here is my question.

My first preference is the Candy Saphire Blue color, I know there's no paint codes to tell what color the bike was originally. So should a guy tear this one down, and paint it the color he wants, or should I just leave this one all original, and find another one to rebuild. I guess what I'm asking is this bike worth more the way it sits, or is it more desirable to a collecter like this, or if I restored the whole thing?

Hope I didn't lose you, cause I lost myself in there somewhere. lol. I think if a guy was going to do a total restoration, he might just as well find a basket case, instead of tearing down a low milage original that still runs strong. Any hints?

Thanks in advance, sorry it's so long,

Wally

It all comes down to this Wallyshark. If you are interested in selling this bike for big $$ my opinion would be to keep it as stock as possible. If you want to keep it, enjoy it and have fun with it, and want it a different color then paint it. :p
It all comes down to personal preference.:red70:

Unless the original finish is nearly perfect, refinishing in a different OEM color won't hurt the value. There's no such thing as a registry which shows the factory color. The laquer Honda used back in the day doesn't seal the metal, so most vintage CTs have a number of rust raspberries popping through the paint. If you're after a show-quality finish, I'd say go for it.
