WANTED 1979 CT70 Speedometer

Hi, the speedometer on my mini trail went haywire, spinning around and around. I don't know of anyone who can repair it so I'm hoping someone has one they no longer have a need for.
I've seen aftermarket replacements but this bike has been in the family since new and everything is still original and I'd like to keep it that way.

Thanks for looking. You can PM me or text at 951 204-5670

allenp42 just gave you a life preserver. This model/year is scarce and thus they don't pop-up for sale very often.

There's a lot that can be done to restore these speedometers, even swapping parts between them. I would strongly suggest retaining your broken original; that's the only source of parts. Everything but the drive assembly is reusable/restorable and that, unfortunately, is what you have.

The needle is attached to an aluminum disc (resembling an old-time diner salt shaker cap) & watch spring. A magnet spins inside of this, at ~2X wheel speed. When the airgap between the two parts goes away and physical contact between the two occurs, the driven side of the assembly (with the needle & spring) rotates violently. The spring is instantly destroyed and there is no way to fix that. FYI, it's usually debris, or oxidation swelling that causes this. It's not super common but isn't rare either.
