Well if you remember right, my 70 CT-70H sold for $5,000. No one here thought that it would sell and I proved everyone wrong. A true restoration will sell if done correctly, and mine was definitely done right.

You wont sell it the same day you post it though. You have to find the right buyer for a 100 point bike, and that often takes time. That, or you sell it for significantly less to the other 99.99% of buyers who wont pay top dollar. I'm sure the vast majority of 100 point bikes could not fetch even their material costs let alone labour costs.

If a guy holds out for his price, eventually a buyer will show up and pay that price... if I remember right, you said that you had way more than $5000 into the bike? I think Hornetgod has a valid, realistic take on profit potential when it comes to restorations.

I'm with you motomike. Original and restored are two different things. The restored bikes, when done well, sure are pretty tho. I don't think this guy quite gets it right. And its a shame because he does come close.

As far as saying I had 'way more than $5,000', actual receipts were less, but if you want to include my labor, then yes it was more. But my labor to do the bike was my spare time, my time as they say... (away from wife!!)

Here is my ad that I placed when I first place my "H" for sale. This guy who is trying to sell these two bikes basically 'cut & paste' my ad to make his. Look real close at his ad compared to mine...

Here is why I think his bikes won't fetch near 10K. Look at his other auction for a "fully Restored" bike that went for just over $2800. Now I'm not trying to be too critical here but just looking at a few pictures I see a bent front wheel, a severely pitted fuel tank bracket and kick stand, and old stripped hardware with nicked covers on the engine. Now I'm thinking if the attention to detail is not there on this bike then the twins must be restored to the same standard so the asking price is a bit high.

Not even when you saw the Chinese muffler and guard?

That one is obvious. There are several other shortcuts that you can find if you look a bit harder. If someone is going to pay $5,000 for a restoration it should look as good as "dmfreitas" HKO.

Thanks Bill,
Well I am looking for my next project, just sold my latest a couple of days ago ('75 XL-250) that I went through... If you happen to see anything in the San Diego area, please let me know... (has to be another 'H' of course...)

Will do! I'm wrapping up a K3 now. My next project/bike will be a z50/xr50/crf50 for my daughter.

Well, it's good to be back on the forum after all these years, Trust me friends, I get 4k for my 4 speeds and 3k for my 3 speeds and cant turn out enough bikes. It was this forum that helped me when I got started in this hobby and for that I want to say thanks to all. My pa always told me you can drop the price but its tough to raise it and make a sell. I must admit that the K1 was a friend of mine that wanted to build a bike and was not the best work but the buyer ended up with the blue KO for his wife and is very happy with both.

Most of the buyers just want to remember the days when life was simple and .50 cents of fuel lasted all day long! They also want to know that if something goes wrong then I will stand behind the bikes. I do love these old Honda's and do this as a hobby to stay out of the bars and out of my wifes way. I did use the gentlemans format for my ad because it was very well done and it was true. If you have not restored one of these bikes then try it before taking shots at other's work. With that being said I really enjoy this forum and it's members. This hobby has allowed me to meet some wonderful people and I feel blessed that it has allowed me some financal freedom as well.

Now, what do you think these will bring if I hold on to them for 10 years? Anyone? I am offering only to the forum members a chance to mix and match any pair of 4 speeds I have. The vins on the other two are build date 12/70 ct70h-148962 and 1-71 ct70h-152070. One blue-green and one emerald green.

$10K only makes sense if they're perfect, low mileage originals or concours level restorations. In 10 years, they may be worth less than they are now. No crystal ball I know of can predict the future.

they are worth exactly what they sell for, my guess is about $3500 ea. I have done CT90s, ATC90s, ATC70s, and just a couple CT70s ... everyone knows who has done one, if you figure it by the hour, better off working at McDonald's. I do like seeing these sell for high prices though, validates my obsession with them!! lol

CT70 average is around 100 MPG and Volt is about 50 MPG, CT70 is green technology that the government should invest in heavily. If the Supreme Court rules Obamacare is legal who knows, Obama could issue an executive order to require all to buy a CT70 or face penalty enforced by IRS and they could be worth millions….time will tell. 10K is a great deal.

yup, $10K is a smokin deal ... cuz when the "Obama-Mini-Bike" legislation kicks in, these will be hard to find at twice the price ... sweet! lol

I can hear the sucking sound on Craigslist and Ebay now...Starting a rumor like that is gonna make it expensive for me to make my first million selling Barack Bikes! Thanks a lot kc!

LMAO! Well it looks like the best offer so far is 8000.00 for the two but I have yet to post the finished pics. Maybe later today on flea bay. I would agree with the gentleman that loves to see me raise the ceiling on the prices of our treasured bikes. The more I get out of mine makes everyone elses worth more, dont you agree? Is it true that the Postal Service in Australia still ride the CT70 bikes in the rural areas? Anyone on here from Down Under?
