It's an early black tag, still has the ST tail light wire routing & seat pan w/bolted-on toolkit holder.

Most of the early black tags had leftover silver tag parts. From the database I have kept over the years, the highest numbered black tag bike I have found that retains all the noticeable silver tag items(exhaust, wiring hole, seatpan, etc) is CT70-117354.

I'd guess the frame number on this bike is somewhere between 115500 and 117354.

Then we know they didn't make 16000 silver tags. MAybe the magic number is 115500. Mines getting rarer by the moment!

Can someone post exactly how a silver/early black tag front fender should look like? I have an early black tag, when I got it I didn't know the difference and since the exhaust was bad I thru it out. No pictures of when I got it,I have always wondered what it had. 127180 10-69,grommet in frame, black horn, bolt on tool carrier. I not sure what the fender should look like

Here's a couple of pictures of an ST front fender with the reinforcement piece showing.

If you look at the lip under the rear edge of your rear fender, I'm pretty sure it's the same one that's under the front edge of the ST front fender. Only thing is on the ST front, it is right out to the edge, where on the rear, they inset it a bit.

I see why they changed them, alot of work just for cosmetic's. I still have what I believe the original fender, but it is not one of those. The rear I changed due to bad chrome and it's nothing special either. Thanks for the pic's
