1973 CT70 Project "Rude Boy"

So I tried the chisel technique and it worked quite well. I was able to replace those caps and now am just waiting on the Helicoil kit for fixing the cylinder head / Intake Manifold issue . I also got the stickers put on the bike and added some small upgrades here and there. I was lucky and rummaged through my parts bin and found the OEM speedometer by accident so that was a huge plus. Waiting on my new headlight bucket , and also going with fiberglass exhaust wrap for the bottom of the exhaust .

I believe this bad boy should be done by weeks end (fingers crossed). Will be posting updates

Thanks for the help dirtbkr188 and Kirrbby

Your front brake shoes probably need to wear in a bit. They will work much better once they match the diameter of the worn-oversize brake drum.
For the cable perch movement...maybe just pinch the perch to fit tight around the cable... with a pair of chanellocks.

Kirrbby , I'm having an issue with the rear brake and the brake control on the right handlebar. The footbrake works fine, but it seems like the handbrake only works properly if the bike the tire is moving in reverse. I was thinking that it could be the position of the brake lever, but when I switched the position it didn't do much.

That seems familiar...like I may have had the same issue before. But I'm thinking it's the same answer...new brake shoes just need to wear in some

Haven't had much time lately on the bike, but I noticed a very substantial oil leak and though it was coming from the back cover gasket behind the coil. Turns out the leak is coming from the output shaft area. Any ideas on if this is normal ? I'm assuming the oil seal will need replacing but Im wondering if this is a common problem ? It happens when the bike is leaned against the kickstand.

If it were a Harley or an English bike yes that would be normal. But on that one no- you need a new seal.

So I took out the bike for its maiden voyage to Johnson Valley CA and I was all ready to give it a spin when the bike would not stay running. Ran fine before, but not when it start I open the throttle and nothing happens and the carb makes popping noises and then the bike just dies. Took the brand new carb apart and cleaned it and then tried it again and the same thing. Carb was working fine on my other bike. Just wondering what this could be ?
