LEDs really need DC to operate properly, efficiently and last. Most of the LED options out there are available in 12v flavor only. Converting the electrical system to full-wave rectified DC is a fairly complex project.
Easiest/cheapest way to go is with an aftermarket reflector assembly, for your K1-later headlight shell. That'll allow you to replace the stupid-expensive sealed beam with a $3 bulb...that'll probably put out more light anyway. You can experiment with varying bulb wattages, as that will trade brightness for longevity...or vice-versa.
If you're dedicated to trying an LED and can find a 6V version that fits your HL reflector, then you could experiment by adding a second rectifier, to the yellow HL lead...which normally feeds raw AC from the stator, while the engine is running.
BTW, that' looks like a really clean `76.
Don't see many of those.
