I'll try tommorow to take a pic, But the red one I just got and its the one real close to yours, is like all the other ones I've seen. It has a build date of 9/69. It was only by accident I saw this and if you were trying to restore an early one I bet that bracket would be hard to find.

If not impossible. Also the exhaust with the offset. It's hard to even find one with the short tailpipe.

Here's some pic's first is early 69, secound is late 69 this is the middle mount. and the 69 exhaust is the same for both just the bolt on bracket is different.

Hi Dennis, the back exhaust bracket is the same as latter ones, but the back brake arm bracket is straight no dogleg in it, sorry If i sound confusing I even sound confusing to myself most of the time.....of course the voices only talk to me.....lol

Good find Grant . I checked the Gold 69 & it has the front exhaust bracket . Never noticed that . I believe it to be very original - except has aluminum levers.
The original owner rode it in parades . I wonder if he changed them . I'll take some close-ups when I get a chance . Mike

Is the silver tag and the 9/69 both this way? My 9/69 has the straight brake stay also.

The black tag bike 9/69 is not that way, Its like my other latter ones. The only reason I noticed itwas when I was putting the motor mount bolts back in the latter bike and looked at the sivver tag bike to see what side the bolt head was on.

Mike, when I got this siver tag it had plastic levers on it. One was broken I took them off thinking some kid bought some motorcross levers for it.

Look at the two parts of the silver tag chain guard. They are put together more crude than later models. Also there may be different markings on the rear shock heads. Joe

Grant ,
Just latched onto a set of plastic levers . Not cheap anymore . This should make it completely original . :D

Mike, If you get a chance I'd sure like to see some pic's of it. Take care,
Grant :4:
I have some pics on my albums page of one of the original Silver tags I had, wish I would have taken more, there is alot more buzz on these bikes lately. It was all original down to the levers, 1000 mile bike.I honestly don't remember about the front fender and the pics don't tell .

I think all the silver tag bikes I've had have had the front fender with the lip in the front. I've also had several K1 bikes with and without metal tanks, all have had the long tank braket but the metal tanks have a larger hole for the fill cap. By the way this is an awsome list with some very great info.
thanks mike

I'm just a helper , Grant put the list together . If he bust's another leg we will get even more information . :4: -- By the way Grant , Gizmo & I were talking yesterday & noticed that the wheels without bosses also are flat (thinner) in the spoke area's & have a casting mark (circular) near the top . Hard to notice . I had to touch with my hand to feel the difference .
p.s. -- just joking abt the leg . No more dukes of hazzard stunts . Aye

:crutch:Yea no more pin-wheel stunts across the street.lol..ouch!! Hey thanks to everyone for there input on this post. Mike, I'll have to look at those wheels again I never noticed that before, and Joe My chain guard was bent so I put a new one on maybe Mike or someone can look at a orignal early chainguard and see where the two halfs are assembled. Be carefull out there. :4:

Mike, I looked at the wheels and I never noticed that! the spokes are flater and they have a little raised circle by the hub. Also on another note, I was putting a new battery in the red 69 and couldn't find the cutout in the frame that the fender covers up where the battery overflow hose go's. I think the '70 and '71 has this, I'll check the others this weekend.

I took a look at my three K0 frames (one of them being a silver tag) relative to the battey overflow hole that was mentioned. None of them have the hole. My highest frame number is 142045 with an 11_70 production date. Do some of the K0s have the hole?

I have one with a date of 6/70 with the hole, but my earlier frames do not have the hole.

Also are the markings on the carb different for early models?
