The owner brought me the new Bridgestones today and I just finished up the rear rim halves.

The rubber plugs are OEM but, not every bike got them. CT70s NEVER came fitted with the grab handle; you are correct, in that this is Dax-only part and intended to help rock the bike onto a centerstand.

Etching & conversion primers can be had in rattle cans. Silver POR-15 works well, on the internal sides of the rim halves; the color is almost dead-on too. Just don't get any on the outside surfaces, UV turns it orange. There are also a number of good Hammerite knockoffs, outdoor paint that's very tough and seals the metal. Once rims have been blasted & painted, they really aren't difficult to redo...that's why I don't bother with any special prep, for my own bikes. When it's time to replace a tire, it's usually an ideal time to repaint the rim; they're usually blemished. The whole process (tire removal, prep & paint, reassembly) can be done in about an hour, under ideal conditions, if you're in a hurry. Overnight drying is more than enough for wheel paint, if you have patience.

The NOS exhaust came in. I don't think I've ever seen a new OEM K0 one in person before. It looks sweeeet!!!

The handles and hardware came in from kirrbby too. Thanks Kirrbby!!!!!! Front brake handle on bike is broke in half and the other is MIA.

Yo kirrbby, I see that one of the rubber tips is burnt like you said, but I can't tell of any bend on one that you described. They both look good to me. Been thinkin of removing both the rubbers, because I'm not sure if I can replicate the rubber dip somehow. Paint the end of the handle???lol

Thanks for the link. Don't know why, but I didn't know they sold those. Thought for sure they ALL were dipped and there was no other way.

PC the ends

Hmmmm........interesting idea. That would be cool. I don't think I'll do that with this bike though, as the goal is too keep it boneyard stock as possible. Great idea for my K1 though. Its rubbers are gone.

Those don't look right to me. I don't think they sell them for our bikes. Pretty sure they ARE dipped.

How bout sourcing some black epoxy... Black silicone like the RTV from the auto parts store... Multiple coats of black gloss paint... Latex?
They(originals) do look like they were dipped in hot rubber or something. Since rx restores these bikes, maybe he'll chime in on what he does.....hint, hint.lol
