It looks like it has been restored at some point, so I'd say someone bought the OEM K0 pipe and shields as they are available still. If that were mine, I'd look for the k1 shield and scuff your chrome pipe and paint it with a high quality high heat paint. Then it would be more correct looking for a 1972. And you'll either have a spare k0 shield, or have it to trade or sellAny chance this came with it, since it is Dated March 1972?
Haha. Yup...you're right. I guess I overlooked that part. I forgot that they are different bolt patterns. 🤦♂️Lol! The shield holes are totally different. That will not work and look ghetto.
Slots on the front portion is correct for K1 as far as I can see.So I have seen 2 shield versions also.
One has front slots, one has front holes?
Which one is correct for the 72?
As kirby said....both are correct, but the shield with holes came on the later model years...maybe 79-up, not exactly sure. The slots are "period correct" for K1, which is the initial question you asked....correct? That pic on CHP's site is a restored bike and has had a reproduction heat shield installed on it, and that particular heat shield has been repopped to look like the K1 with the exception holes.Link above shows a 72 with Holes?
Ya but that is just a picture of a restored bike. It's the wrong guard on there. I'm 100% sure about that. That bike also has a grab handle installed...Honda did not put those on CT70s.Link above shows a 72 with Holes?
