Ct110 what engine should I get?

For what I’ve seen on YouTube and looking in other forums when buying a lifan engine some of them don’t fit properly in the ct110 and you have to drill out holes and buy special brackets and even then there is something wrong with the foot pegs hitting the brake. Can anyone tell me or put some links in if there is a lifan engine that bolts in to a 1995 ct110 without having to do any drilling and buying special mounts. Also I’m not sure if this meant to go in another forum but ah well.

No, all the Lifan and similar Chinese clone motors are made to fit the CT70 or Mini Trail 50 bolt pattern frame. But adapting one of these motors to fit a CT90 or CT110 is no big deal. You can get the brackets from Beatrice Cycle, or if you're clever, you can make them yourself. That's the easy part. You'll spend more time wiring the thing up.

I’ll attach a link to a video I recently posted, on my CT110 with a Lifan 125cc.

The Lifan is NOT a direct bolt-in. Although the CT110 uses a similar 2 bolt mount, the distance between the holes is greater than on the Lifan. In my video, you’ll see that I used the existing bottom hole on the frame and welded two small tabs to the frame for the top holes.
The CT110 footpegs are NOT a direct bolt up to the Lifan. Pegs can be picked up on Amazon for a decent price, that’s what I swapped to.
Electrical is a breeze, yank out all the original wiring and install a Trail Buddy harness.

Hey Mike, sounds like a fun adventure, good luck. One question, when I do Lifan conversions on CT90's, I always used the existing top frame hole, and fabricated an adapter to mate the bottom engine hole to the bottom frame hole. You did the opposite, using the existing bottom hole. Is there an advantage to one over the other method, (geometry, sprocket alignment, etc?)

I think I mentioned it in the video, but I was attempting to lower the engine as much as possible. I knew that I’d run into carb/intake clearance and thought that using the bottom hole would help. I got the carb to work, using the stock CT110 intake, but the down tube cover made it hard to access the choke and idle adjustment. In this video, I turn the carb and intake around, to face forward and that worked great. I’m not a fan of how a forward facing carb looks, but it just allows everything to be accessible.

Unless you are specifically changing the motor out because you want something bigger/faster (say larger than a 125) it doesn't make a lot of sense to do anything but rebuild the original if you have it. The originals are tough as nails, and anything later than an 82 is CDI anyway. you could also swap directly an ATC125M into the frame, remove the pull start, and enjoy electric start. I have a lot of experience with the 110 class motors and they are wonderful and plenty powerful with just a few changes. First, do a small amt of porting. Second, swap the cam (webcamshafts.com) can fix you up. Three add a VM20-273 carb. four, swap the rear sprocket 3 teeth smaller. that will get you into the 60s with the bike.
