Belated update: While I was back home (Ohio) visiting family in March, I pulled out the K2 and did some more work on it. I rebuilt the front shocks and replaced the rubber boots, replaced the torn seat cover, installed a new OEM muffler, and installed a set of K3 mirrors. The perches had holes for mirrors and when I first started working on it, it had an pair of crappy aftermarket mirrors my Grandfather probably installed back in the day. I think the K3 mirrors have more of an original appearance and only a handful of stock purists would know the K2's didn't come with mirrors in the first place.
I plan to rebuild the clutch, repaint the rims and possibly replace the tires next visit home.
