Oh ya. Pull it and replace it. Sometimes they're tough to pull, a little heat might help. Make sure the shaft is clean first. Then before pushing the new on on, tape up the splined end with a few wraps of electrical tape, oil up everything, and use a right sized socket to push it into the case. It's tough to push it all the way in with fingers only.
Every seal can be replaced fairly easy on our motors. You have to pull the stator plate to get to a few is all. And the seals on the stator can leak and make you think it's coming from the shift shaft seal.
