K1 exhaust on a HK0?

I have what I think is a cheap aftermarket exhaust and with it installed I cannot fit the brush guard. The K0 exhaust seems expensive / hard to find. I have not tried to source a K1 exhaust but just curious if a K1 exhaust would fit a HK0?

It will fit. What you have pictured is a cheapo China exhaust. The K0 muffler and heatshield are NOS parts and can be bought from CHP or DRATV. I think you can still get a K1 muffler but I believe the heatshield is NLA.

Ok thanks guys. I actually like the looks of the K1 better and for some reason had the idea it was easier or cheaper in NOS form. I just didn't know if it would fit. But never mind I guess, I'll get the K0 when I can. Are there any other OEM looking alternatives that fit properly or just go with K0 OEM / NOS and be done with it?

I would go for the KO,just make sure you get one in real good shape or brand new,I always thought the chrome KO exhaust and chrome fenders kinda made the bike. Looks wise...

X2 here too. I like the chrome pipe with the shaver grill. The K1-later had to grow on me for a while.

K0 & K1 mufflers interchange directly. K0s just need the stud/nut at the rear hanger. Only differences are early models used half-moon spacers and the K1 used the extended stud/nut. The half-moons went bye-bye a long time ago and the K1 muffler was superseded by the `76, which got an offset rear hanger...eliminating the stud/nut.

I've always preferred the K0's machine gun heat shield and chromed muffler. That said, what has since become a classic/retro look was just plain dated when the K1 debuted. 1972 was a long time ago...a bygone era.
