Opinion needed

I found a guy who has a saphire blue HKO with 405 original miles from the photo's and talking to the older gentleman on the phone this thing looks like it's in mint condition. He is asking $2900 and says he might go down a few. My heart is racing! What do you think? He says it has absolutly no blimishes, but one of the rear foot pegs is broken. It even looks like it has the luggage rack. He says he bought it 10 years ago and it only had 200 miles on it then and he has put the other 205 on it.

man I mean I know he says it's CLEAN CLEAN but when you really start looking at those pictures I see alot of surface rust etc. The pics on Craigslist allow you to see it better. I do think it's a nice bike but I don't see it bringing that kind of money.

So, you think it's probably not worth $2900? I am really considering buying this bike, but I would like the opinion of those who know better.

I looked at the craigslist ad and it is not a $2900 bike. I would say $1500, maybe $2000 if it was nicer than i think it is.... You can see all the grime on the motor, brake hubs. Wear on the flywheel cover, dent on the shock cap. Definitely not a "time capsule" but a nice rider nonetheless.

WOW- I must have been blind when I looked at it. I didn't see all the defects everyone is describing. I guess I will go look at it in person tomorrow and see what it looks like. I already told the guy I would buy it. That's why I asked though, most on this forum are smater than me when it comes to these bikes.

I see bikes like this go in the 1200-1500 range. DO NOT spend 2900 or anywhere near that for this bike. And less if it doesn't have the title.

The wheels look like they were painted on the bike, and it really looks grimey, I don't know if I would believe that mileage, my opinion, $12-$1400 tops, check the seat pan and see if the speedo cable has been replaced, Toolkit?

Here's the Craigslist link.......

It does appear that the front rim was spray painted and the tire was hit with over spray. It looks nice from a distance but, I'd take a closer look. In my opinion, He/She is asking a bit too much at $2,900

Backinthedays,

No one here can tell you what that bike is worth, its worth what *you* want to pay for it. Check it out and *you* decide how much its worth.

Good luck!!!

The bike has the typical look of sun exposure. The green pigment fades, leaving the bike looking blue and the gear speed range lines on the speedo have already changed from dark red to yellowish, very typical. Might be original mileage, however that sticker on the LH fork leg and what appears to be a dented LH shock cover add to the list of "suspicious" items. Even if the mileage is true, still not a $2K+ bike, IMO.

Just think of it this way, I bet you could get TWO of them and fairly nice ones for that price! Wouldn't that be fun! If you already planned to spend that amount of cash.

Well -- are you the proud owner of a Blue/Green HKO ?

So, based on the dialoge on this bike, would it be safe to assume that this bike would be a fairly decent buy at this price?

Paint & decals look good (replaced?). Carb is non-stock w/choke and fuel valve on wrong side. Mileage is...? Stock air cleaner and canister missing. Check the wiring harness, appears damaged/violated? Not quite an $1100 bike even though its my favorite color/model.

Around this part of the country it's worth about $700 maybe a little more. Needs some attention to be an $1100 on up bike. Getting the word out with family and friends and being patient for the right bike is the key.
