CHP has them $65.oo , I've been under the impression for yrs that there was never a OEM rack from Honda for there CT70 , just aftermarket companies making them for the CT70's .

I would be real surprised if that was a oem Honda rack. None of the optional parts I have for any of my Hondas are marked and nothing is in any parts book or microfitch I have. Show me the parts tag like this and then I'll believe. Hondapartstag.jpg

That is not a oem rack, they do not exist. Just a aftermarket rack from the early 70's. I have also seen sissy bars from the same manufacturer of that era.

grow up....dont start drama over minibikes....the rack i posted is a original from the day just like pass pegs....i didnt mean it came on the minibikes.

Your the one who made a big deal and then are afraid to post and have to send a private message. I mearly asked if you had proof. Someone else called you out too, did you jump all over them? I don't think it's right to insinuate that there was an oem rack and then that person making a mistake of buying a miss represented one.

The local Honda dealer had bore-up kits and luggage racks in their aftermarket display case...in 1972. Best info available is that these items, like buddy pegs, came from a few centralized sources but were never Honda production items. I have carefully avoided the "OEM" designation for good reason. These were, at one time, dealer items that could be installed, prior to delivery of a new bike. Dealer aftermarket items can be considered "OEM" parts under certain circumstances. These vintage racks are one such example of this gray area. There appears to have been a single manufacturer, when the bikes were current models; the racks themselves are easily identified and thus will probably always command a premium among collectors.

As for the CHP repros, $65 is more than reasonable. Take a tired vintage rack to a chrome shop and get a hard lesson in reality circa 2012.

The rack i posted a pic of was dealer installed on a bike purchased brand new, i understand for the purists that it apparentley was not made by Honda but it's as good as it gets....the Honda name is stamped on it so i assume Honda must have aproved of it's manufacture using there name....FWIW, I'm not a expert nor am a 100 point guy...lol.

I agree. $65 is reasonable. It's just not what i WANT to spend. I also do not need a perfect condition rack. I will probably buy the CHP one eventually, but if i found something cheaper now, i'd pop for it.
