Ruby Red H K1

Here is my 72 H k1. This has been my winter project this year. All that is left is the carb and airbox, waiting on a carb kit.

Nice bike red'
? for you. Is the seat cover original? If not, is it a heat pressed seam or stitched? I picked up a K1 this winter and it has a pretty big hole in the seat. Just wandering if I could get a pressed seam cover somewhere.
Your bike looks great.

Very nice job on the HK1. Looks like a keeper for sure!
So this is how a Michigander spends a nice long snowy winter constructively, eh? :target::16:

The seat cover is not original. It is stitched, but it looks very nice. It is really hard to find a perfect repro k1 seat cover. I happen to have a minty original k1 seat tucked away if i decide to take it to shows. The only other thing i am looking for is a nos heat shield for the exhaust. That is a hard to find item. I had alot easier time finding the nos taillight assembly.

Thanks again for all the compliments guys.

I meant to ask you about that. It looked so nice I thought you may have had it re-chromed. Looks great! Yeah they are hard to come by since they were only around, what a couple years in that size?

Yeah, the taillight bracket was only used in 72. I was going to go the rechrome route but i simply couldn't find a taillight bracket without indentations in the license plate bracket. Then i stumbled across the one on the bike, I had to pay for it though lol!

:46:I had a feeling I was going to be lucky to find an original heat pressed. There's a guy close to me that does seats. I had him do a couple KO seats a while back. The heat pressed seam material is a lot easier to get for those. I saw two of his stitched seats for big bikes and was impressed. His sewing room walls were covered with patterns for all kinds of bikes. For a little more than $100 that'll probably be the rout I go.
You're right about the tail lights.

Is the heat shield different from the ones Honda sells now for the '72& up?

Yeah they are different. The original ones have slots towards the front of the pipe where the new ones have circles. I seen a nos one a few years ago sell for $300.....
