Speedo and Key Switch Part

I could use speedo needle from a K1 - 78 "HL" speedo", the type that is made from plastic. From what I can tell, Nippon Seiki speedo's use a brass speedo needle. Not sure if they are interchangeable.

Also, tumblers from a key switch or maybe a complete key switch that is trashed. I have a 2 position key switch (77-79) that someone took out the tumblers. The key falls right out without the tumblers in place. I hate to let a difficult part to obtain part go to waste.

In my search for a speedo needle, I found a needle from a K0/HK0 speedo if anyone needs it.

Unobtainium polymer...the plastic speedometer needles are few & far between. And, when a potential donor speedo pops up, the needle is usually either gone, or fubar.

Lock tumblers, OTOH, will be much easier to find.

Not surprised about the needle. Like the key switch, it's another item I have that I hate see go to waste. The PO had started to dis-assemble the speedo, cracked the glass, probably put in in a box to fix later. He would not have cracked the glass if he/she had went around the entire speedo peeling up the lip. Looked as if he did about 1/2 and tried to pry it off. All I found was a noisy odometer, which a little grease took care of.

I probably have a junk switch. But don't think I can help with a junk, round speedo. I'll look when I can tho. Probably be tomorrow. I'm expecting a buttload of ghosts and goblins to start showing up here shortly.

Thanks for the offer smitfire. However, I think I've found a trashed switch to extract the guts. Trying to save one just like you have, because as far as I know, 77- 79 are all the same. What I'm trying to do may be a waste of time, but at least I'll learn something....maybe.

IDK about that being a waste of time. The audience may be small but, I imagine, enthusiastic. NLA parts won't get any easier to find in the future.

Well that was a nice stroke of luck. This one is non working...good for parts kinda junk to me. Is the needle in it a good one?? good condition or whatever?

I can peel it open and send you just the needle for freebies, or sell you the whole unit.
Need more pics?

Would rather be lucky than good. Needle looks fine to me. I suspect it's easier for you to sell me the whole unit. Whatever works for you is fine with me. Send me a PM and I'll shoot you some pesos.
