I just noticed that the muffler on my 1979 ct70 has rot in the spot where the heat shield clamps on towards the front of the motor. I'd like to save the muffler as its been in California its whole life and is cancer free except for this.
Any advice on tips to fix it. Also is there any tricks to keep it from happening again? Are there any vendors that I could send this off to get fixed?

I fixed one by putting a piece of sleeve over it, clamping into place(hose clamps), and then had a freind weld it up(wire feed). Ground down the excess weld and then painted with grill paint.
