Too much crap

Hey Kirby, I'm looking for a few softail z50 parts. I could use a soft tail orange side cover. My bike is a 73 candy orange, but sports a 74 topaz orange tank. Its a rider so, either version of orange would work. I could also use a good front fender as well. Thanks in advance.

Wish I could help you Z50nut. Unfortunately I sold off most of my softails and parts a few years ago. I'm kinda regretting it now. Wishin I had a couple of those bikes back. I kept a mostly complete k3, basket case/project, and that's about it. I do have a few tanks and crappy seats. I just ordered 2 new fenders for my winter project, and I'll still need a bunch of other stuff. I'll be sellin stuff to buy stuff during the off season. Soo many things on my wish list.

I just bought new front and rear fenders, along with all the bushings, rubbers and washers to mount the rear, from Partzilla...160 bucks with free shipping. I forgot they ship free for orders above...100 dollars I think. Cool deal. I rarely buy new when it comes to things like this, so I'm excited to get shiny stuff.

No worries and thanks for the quick response. Ironically, I had collected new fenders for this bike and sold them off when it seemed we would sell the bike. Both fenders on this bike are original, the back is very nice, the front...not so much. Searching is part of the fun. As much as I like shiny and new, the goal for this bike is nice but ride able. I've got a few around here that are looking to hit the saddle, and I want to encourage safe riding for the kids. Less xbox and smart phones, more gas and rubber! Thanks again.

I might have one that's NOS for about 120... I think either cys or primer.
A nice used one...maybe $70 shipped.

You'd just want to compare both parts (the one you buy, and the one you have) and tweak as necessary to make sure you have a nice matching pair before you paint.

As always...if someone has parts they want to sell, please pipe in, make Tweakin a offer. It won't upset me all all, sell your parts.

Thanks Kirby, I actually found a set from Mike's minitrail before I saw your reply.

Hey Kirrbby,
Sent you a PM a little while back, parts for the ugly duckling Z50. Did you get it? Any luck.
Thanks.
For your viewing pleasure. I'll post some info and get some pricing for you later.

No bolt for the brake pedal. No air filter. And...no something else, can't remember right now. lol

...Chain. No chain.

You didn't need a wire harness either, or hand levers. I'll pull those and the handle bar too.

Everything is rough and cheap.

Rear hub is pretty good. Part of the shoulder that the sprocket fits over is broken/missing. Makes it cheap.

You'll need a bolt for the brake pedal. It's a shoulder bolt, 14mm-12mm-74mm, 22mm is threaded at the end.

The brake pedal rod/linkage will need some attention too. My pic should describe it. yellow part is just a example of what you'll need. you'll also need a spring for that.

Throttle pipe is in the grip. The throttle cables...one will hopefully work. They're all I had.

2 really rough lookin coils. Hopefully one will work.

Petcock, no filter on it.

ugly gas cap
fork boot has a small tear.
brake cables are really rough and cheap.
front fender

Your choice of rear fenders. The short one is free if you want it. The long one has cracks but is whole. You can have it for what I paid for it if you want it.

I'll PM with the dollars.

I was going to mention that I don't need the harness, forgot. I'll skip on the rear fender as I have one just as nice, lol.
NP on the hub, I'm sure it will hold up.
Thanks much again

Kirby are there any bearings or spacers in that rear hub setup or will I have to get some?
Thanks

It's all in there. Bearings and distance collar.
It looks like this hub was beadblasted. I don't remember doing it myself, but I might have. No matter, you should knock the bearings out and clean, check, repack them.

I'm working late today but I'll be getting everything packaged up and weighed when I'm able. Then I'll get you a final total.

Samstheman, the long fender in the pics above is still available. It's cracked pretty badly but all there for 25 bucks.

This beauty is not cracked, but it's pretty ugly. You can own it for 40.

This bracket is pretty nice. There are more pics of it in post #701... 90 beans. I think I could put together a HL bucket, bezel and rough wiring for about 110 smacks.
I have a like new HL setup for one hundred and ninety American dollars.
...No badge for the HL's.

Not a good nite for me to go on a parts hunt, but wanted to shoot you some pricing to see if you're interested in any of it.
