Cleaned up a '71 KO I picked up in a load of bikes/frames. Was the only "complete" out of 14 frames. In efforts to have a running bike, I took a complete motor from the heap to replace the original, which had been sitting with the top end off for a considerable amount of time. Surprisingly, the donor motor ran. I drained the oil, cleaned the slinger, and put fresh GN4 10-40 in it. Replaced the instrument bulbs, patched the exhaust at the front clamp (turned out very nice, actually), replaced the kick, counter, and shift seals, and gave it a good bath. It needed a gas cap, which it now has. I just have to adjust or replace the throttle cable, clean/oil the air filter, put new grips on it, and toss a fresh battery in it, which should be here tomorrow. After all is said and done, I have about $130 tied up in this thing. It needs a top end rebuild (smokes a good amount), a seat cover, and a chain guard, but otherwise is complete. I probably sound like a shady car salesman, but I have a guy coming to look at it this weekend for $650. I'm not going to do more than I have to to it before I sell it. As it sits, it's a complete, running bike with all working lights, levers, straight bars, etc. Better than most I find on CL...
