What did you do to your CT70 today

This is my first post ever, on this site. Got my first CT70 a few days ago - - a 1971 KO in candy blue. Runs, but needs the carb gone thru and the correct air box hookup. Past owner ran without any. :nono:

Otherwise, bike seems complete. Anyhow, TODAY I had it out running back & forth on my street.

Top speed is about 25 mph, so a lot of sorting out to do.

Welcome aboard:wave:

Odds are good that the top end is tired, the motor down on compression & power. Running sans air filter is a bad idea, especially on a high-revving bike engine that's likely to see a lot of of dust/sand. It could be time for rings & a valve job. The chain & sprockets are likely overripe, too, soaking up power that could be moving you forward. Probably time for points, condenser & sparkplug, also. For the short-term, check your breaker point gap; when it closes-up beyond a certain point, performance goes down the old porcelain convenience.

A healthy stocker of this era should be capable of 15-17mph higher top speed, under ideal conditions and giving you at least 35mph...uphill and into a headwind.

just bought another CT70 1971 from original owner only 1248 miles on it. Motor purrs so nice bike 100% stock in good conition but far from perfect has some scars from rough storage, I paid $550 with title. I am thinking of taking all the best parts off the two bikes I have am make one as nice as I can and use the other as more of a everday cruiser. I like my 20000010 serial # bike its kind of cool that is the 10th bike built but am thinking of swaping motors between the two. Not sure what to do as the motor is ID 000006 being the 6 motor built for that model. think I would hurt the value doing a motor swap. My old motor has 5400 miles vs the 1250 miles. Thanks Taz

Received an anxiously awaited order from CHP today, quickly rushed home so i could put the finishing touches on the '78 i recently got. New headlight, gauge bulbs, missing tail light screw, stripped alt. cover screw, and an electronic flasher. She's all lit up like a Christmas tree now :36: Then off to the backyard for an oil change and next it'll go into the trailer for it's trip to the Moto GP races this weekend along with the '77 :red70: :yellow70:

Thanks for the help! The thing runs best with a lot of choke, which isn't right. I thought adding the air filter box would help this (once I got the new carb-to-airbox snorkel). Well the I got it today and hooked it up,

but not much changed. Still idles fine, but chokes-out when given a lot of throttle. I haven't had the motor apart yet. Still working on getting another minibike finished first, then the CT70 gets it's turn. :)

IMG_5100.jpgIMG_5108.jpgIMG_5109.jpgIMG_5110.jpgIMG_5111.jpgIMG_5113.jpgThis is a two week up date. Bought a 1970 KO ct70 two weeks ago doing minor repairs and will flip it to fund another bike build. Then Thursday I pick up a junk pile of 2 1/2 bikes for $75.00 some good stuff and lots of crap but $75 was a steal now i have all kinds of extra parts. Still looking for that 72 CT=70H. Now as of today I am working a deal 2 buy two titled 1970 Ko's from original owner $850 for the pair here are a few pics should have in the next 20-30 days. Will do minor restore and flip still trying to fund my CT-70H. I am keeping my 1974 to sweet of a bike to flip Now I just need a cherry CT-70H and one 72 modded bike for trail ridding and I will be set. here are a few pics of my next set I am picking up.

Great looking pair ya'got there.

I mounted my new rear Bridgestone on my '77 yesterday. Then today took the '78 and the GF up to the DMV for practice riding their test course. Wed. it goes to the CA. CHP for a final inspection so that it can be titled and street reg'd.

Saturday, actually...

Replaced the chain, added a spring-loaded tensioner - and passed the 18,000-mile mark while doing the initial run-in.

I uncovered and wiped down the 70, rode around the block and then put the decals on the tank of the Z50 today. Still too damn hot in the garage to do much.

Picked up a non-running, complete '72 3 speed last week. Tore the motor down tonight, and it's going to need a valve job and new rings. Someone was in the motor previously and I swear they used an entire tube of RTV silicone on that thing. Stuff was on the cam, big goober on top of the piston even. Cleaned the carb, but I think a rebuild kit would be best. It's a work in progress...

Unrelated, but I know of a really clean black '78, titled, for $900. Is it worth that? Tori, what'd you pay for yours, if you don't mind me asking?

HEY ! My post has been made sticky wooooo-whooooo :36:

We've got the plates for for the '78 now, so pretty much all we've been doing is riding around the neighborhood. Getting the GF out and putting in some seat time. Have burned up a tank of gas so far.

The '78 is all original. The '77 has an aftermarket carby. Probably whatever CHP sells. Both seem to work the same. I rarely have to choke either one to start after sitting for several days. For whatever that's worth. I would think they'd want choke when cold like that, so maybe they are set too fat. Dunno.

Taking my 2 Gold Stars now.

Thank you. ;)

I stripped down my 1970 Dax Honda Trail 70 Export. I removed every nut bolt wire ect. I am going to take it in this weekend to get it painted in the original candy blue. I will start working on rebuilding / restoring / replacing every part as needed. I am going to restore it 100% original look. I will post pics as I work on building it back up.

Road tested the tb race head today, made a ''noticable'' difference on the 124cc 54/54mm 69mm tall cylinder CT70H bottom end billet tb clutch with H/D springs and 22mm mikuni knockoff carb.Didn't do a top speed run yet though.
