Wingnut's 2015 NFL Season Thread

Wing & I are watching some college ball... got some excellent games in days ahead, so we're looking forward to those. Oklahoma-Clemson, Michigan State-Alabama, Notre Dame-Ohio State, Oklahoma State-Ole Miss, and a few other good matchups to keep us happy, LOL. Wing & I are big football fans, so we love this time of year. In my younger days, I'd go out and party on New Year's Eve, but I'm older and wiser now, more of a homebody than I used to be... besides, many of those friends with whom I used to party have already passed away for various reasons, and of course I'm down on drinking and driving, there's no future in it. Sure, I drink a beer or two while riding my little offroad thrasher, but I've generally worked those off by the time I return to the Mighty Camry Dirt Bike Transporter.

Just the other day, while cleaning the car interior, I noticed some serious scratches in the painted left rear door frame of the Camry, where those pesky FrankenBike pegs have grated across the surface, LOL. Meh, no worries, we're bourgeois and the scratches aren't visible from the exterior... the rig is already thrashed anyway from cartopping the Confederate Gunboat (12' MiniFish), so who cares? LOL. I'm not looking to impress anyone while behind the wheel of the soon-to-be-14-year-old Camry... I'm not trying to make friends and influence people with it either, 10-4??? All that rig has to do is safely transport me, the boat & the FrankenBike from Point A to Point B and back, no need to set speed records with the rig in the process. As a former truck driver, I still perform a walkaround inspection whenever I fire up the Camry for the first time on those days I use it. Good habits die hard, I reckon. :16:

Wingnut: "I'M S.O.L. IN THE ROSE BOWL, BOTH TEAMS ARE BIRD-RELATED!!!"

LOL. Damn, that was a quick score by the Stanford Cardinals... I like the Hawkeyes myself, but we'll see what happens, some of these recent bowl games sure have been lopsided. I was surprised to see Clemson beat the Sooners so handily, I expected it to be the other way around. And even though I was rooting for the Crimson Tide, I was disappointed by the lackluster performance of the Spartans... weird outcome there, but I'm looking forward to the Championship Game between Clemson and Alabama. Ah, well, for now I'll watch the Rose Bowl, and tonight's matchup between OSU and Ole Miss, that should be a good one. :41:

Wingnut: "HOLY TOLEDO, THAT ROSE BOWL STUNK!!! BRING ON THE COWBOYS & THE REBELS!!!"

LOL... Wing didn't think much of that bird game, but we're holding out hopes for a good close game in this next matchup.

Wingnut: "CRIPES, KANSAS CITY 11-5, AND NOW THE CHOKERS BLOW IT AS DENVER SCORES!!! DAMN... THERE'S A LOT RIDING ON THIS CHOKERS MATCH, BUT THERE'S STILL TIME, LOL." :43:

Wingnut's picks for Wild Card Weekend: Chiefs, Bengals, Vikings, Packers

My picks for Wild Card Weekend: Chiefs, Steelers, Vikings, Redskins

Now, back to the Chiefs, my next team if I relocate to Missouri, LOL.

Cripes, that was one crazy wild card game, LOL. Thought I was gonna hafta sling a C-note to Wingnut in order to settle my debt, then his damfool Bengals players lost their tempers and lost the ballgame. Wing is heartbroken, so I'm letting him slide on the hundo, 10-4??? Poor little guy, his Bengals were SO CLOSE to advancing in the Playoffs... :rip_1:

Damn, only three hours till the Championship Game between the Clemson Tigers & Alabama Crimson Tide... Wing likes the Tigers, of course, and I reckon I do too, they looked pretty tough the last time I saw 'em play. Guess I'll knock off the listings search for now, gotta get cleaned up and make a store run. :red70:

Wing & I are looking forward to this weekend's NFL games, but our picks haven't quite been on the money lately, LOL. Here are the teams we'd like to see win: Chiefs, Packers, Panthers & Broncos. I'd go with the Steelers, but they barely won that last matchup. Wing & I REALLY want to see the Panthers stomp the Seahawks... I can't stand that Carroll putz, and Wing doesn't like teams named after birds. He's a goldurned wild part-Bengal cat and avid bird hunter, what do you expect? LOL.

Well, back to this gray & ugly day here at the ol' hacienda, reckon I'll box up some more stuff as usual. Saw our fifth round of donations out the gate this morning, just a half-dozen boxes of books which needed to be put back in circulation. I'm up to 33 fully-loaded plastic EDCO bins with the paper/magazine/clipping recycling effort, but the end is in sight: another round or two and we'll be done with clearing the house. Friggin' unbelievable, how much of that crap was piled up here, but the task of clearing it is nearly finished.

My sister is driving down here again for a week or ten days or whatever, and more relatives are slated to arrive on Tuesday for the memorial services next week. Meh, at least they're making an effort to show. Once those services are done, I may be able to make that tribute ride I've wanted to do for awhile. I'm long overdue for a serious camping & riding excursion, but this whole death-in-the-family scene has been overwhelming, and everything I've been doing in recent months needed to be done, 10-4???

I'm no enabler either, as far as other family members go, I'm just the man on location who's dealing with the tasks that need to be completed. Getting through the holidays without me beloved mum was tough too, but the holidays are over now and it's time to move forward. Everything's getting done according to plan, the stuff I'm eventually taking with me is being boxed up, the other stuff is being made ready for the estate sale, etc., etc. One fine day, all of this activity will be a thing of the past... only the shining memory of me beloved mum will remain as I dwell in my new home. :red70:

Never did wrap up this thread: Wingnut was adopted by some family here in Coronado, but I don't know where he is or whether he's in a good situation. I DID leave word at the shelter for them to call me if Little Wing is brought back for any reason, so I can reclaim him on my way outta this seaside ghetto. Poor Little Wing, I still miss the blasted varmint, he added so much life to this old beach cottage... but maybe he's living large in some mansion down by the golf course, and his new owners let him out now and then so he can roam the way he used to roam here in this neck o' the woods. I'd like to think so, because he was a really cool cat and he needed room to roam, 10??? :30:
