I did go ahead an clean up the 16mm CT70 carb. Just in case I use the 49cc engine off the chopper. It still needs gaskets/seals, but it's clean and ready for service.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what's the deal with CT70 carburetor gasket/rebuild kits? Some seem to be missing the petcock gasket, while others seem to have too many o-rings? Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe it is because the "kits" cover multiple carburetors. Or maybe my carburetor is missing parts (highly likely with its age and unknown history). Just seems odd to me. Or is everyone going with aftermarket carburetors? I can buy a reproduction carburetor for about the same price as a gasket kit. But I'd prefer to use the original carb.

Finally got around to putting another carb on the Chinese mini chopper. It actually pulled me around pretty good for the small engine. Though I'm not a big guy, about 165 lbs and 5' 8". I think I'm going to pull the engine and throw it on the CT70. Just to get it going on the cheap. If a better engine comes along later maybe I'll swap it out. Man, that first gear is like a granny gear, borderline unusable. I'll have to check the sprocket tooth count and see if it can be played with a bit.

When I got the bike right side bar on the crash bar/skid plate was bent out about 30 degrees or so (I forgot to take a before pic). I was able straighten it out fairly well. I may give it another go to get it a little more straight. It should clean up nicely for me. I also plan to get the dents out of the fenders to the best of my ability. If it isn't perfect that won't bother me much as I still plan to use it as a trail bike. If it was too nice, I'd feel bad using it.
You have lots of problems and lots of work to do talk about basket cases you have it I wish you the best of luck wrench on.

Here is a very good thread for you to check out. Nevc has good replacement front forks for $218 I think.

Here is the thread that ktheake mentioned to you.

You should disassemble your front end completely to see what's good and what's not. Go from there. Maybe you only need one fork lower...to replace your cracked lower.
You’re right on the money as usual I agree.

Thanks, it's been a slow burn. But now that I'm going to rob the drivetrain out of that mini chopper. Things should get moving. This CT70 will nickle and dime me to death with all the little missing pieces. But it will still be fun to get it back in serviceable use.

And through the magic of 3D printing... the ignition switch from the mini chopper fits the CT70 frame with no permanent modification. I'll eventually paint the ignition adapter black or have it reprinted in black filament. Though the rubber grommet does a good job covering it and the red filament isn't super noticeable against the orange of the frame.

I've been looking at exploded views trying to see what rear axle assembly components I'm missing. Saw this part #7, INDICATOR, RR (43145098860). Does anyone know if this part is really needed or a basic washer could suffice for to allow for proper wheel alignment on the axel. I'm pretty much missing all my rear spacers ect. on my bike.

Number 7 is for the brake arm not for centering rear wheel…#7 is an indicator to let you know when it’s time for new brakes…
Ah, perfect. Thank you for the clarification. I'll have to check and see if mine is there and if it is time for new pads. lol

if you look close you will see a little triangle shaped mark on the brake plate. If the arrow on #7 goes past the triangle mark on the brake plate when the pedal is fully down it’s technically time for new brake shoes..

@Robert thran thank you so much for the information. This site and members have been very helpful in solving the jigsaw puzzle of a bike a purchased. I'm know the path I've chosen isn't the most straight forward, or popular. But in the end I think I'll get a good budget beater without making any irreversible modifications.

Got my exhaust, front brake cable and lever. Got to keep picking at it. If you don't move neither will the project. I need to find time to swap the engine over and work on the wire harness. @MiniBike Mike’s Garage when you do your 12 volt conversions, where do you mount your rectifier and CDI in the frame?

Looks like the later CT70s have a good solution for mounting the rectifier and CDI. Picture below is a '94 CT70.

Anybody with the Chinese clones, where do they mount these items?

Also since I'm not planning to run turn signals on the bike and I don't have an original speedometer. I snagged up a cheap neutral indicator light, that I'll put in place where the turn indicator light used to live. Trying to make this bike as user friendly as I can for friends and family.
