Some more 3D printing to make parts that don't fit together, fit each other. I was going to weld up the holes and redrill. But figured I could just CAD up and adaptor. Had a friend print a taillight adapter/isolator out of flexible TPU filament. It's not pretty, about 3 times as thick as a stock part, and the wrong color. But fits really well and serves its purpose for me. The taillight is mounted very solid to the taillight bracket.

I got my original headlight bucket super glued back together. When it warms up I'll hit it with a touch of filler primer and black paint. Mostly to cover up the light sanding marks. Should look pretty presentable.

77 is plastic? Wow, they look exactly like the K1 style in metal. They are plentiful and would work too.
Yep '77 is plastic or at least mine is, this bike is such a jumble of parts it could be off another bike. I'm sure one of the experts will let us know. I considered putting a new headlamp bucket on it, but this one only really had the 2 small cracks. So I figured I'd go down the repair road at least for now. Thanks for thr heads up. If I have an issue with this one I'll look into a k1 style.

Was looking at the '77 frame the other day. I think I can make a bracket to mount my starter solenoid, fuse, CDI, and rectifier. Under the battery box. I'm not planning on running a battery, so it will give me good access. And if I want to use a battery in the future it wouldn't be that hard to pull the battery and battery box to access the 12 volt components. Should make for a clean install.

So if you are not using a battery the starter solenoid isn't needed. You can start it with a mini jump box right off the starter.
Good point. Fortunately this engine has both kick and electric start. I'll keep the starter solenoid, if I use the battery in the future. But my plan is to primarily use the kick start and no battery. I would just mount the solenoid, cdi, fuse, and rectifier where the battery goes, but I'm weird about maintaining full functionality of things. Even if I don't plan to use them. So then I want to keep space open for a battery in the future.

Got my carb kit today and new foot pegs/kickstand/Center stand. I have an original set of foot pegs/kickstand, but really wanted a center stand. I just like them for the stability when storing a bike.

Getting a bit off topic again, but I was thinking about referring to my bike as a CT50 as bit of a joke since I'm using a 50cc engine. But I guess Honda did make a CT50 Motra for a short stint in the 80's. Looks really cool.

Just a heads up, that battery with spade terminals in mountain mini's pic will not handle a Electric starter style 12v ct or clone. It doesn't have the cold cranking amps. You should consider a dratv on ebay clone battery box and run a YTX4 battery, it will crank the 12v starter and has a spot to mount the regulator at the end of the box.

It’s a 12 volt 5 amp battery. It’s attached to a yx 140 engine. Kickstart only. I haven’t had a chance to run it yet. Using this battery to make sure my electrical is all in order for now. The battery box was cut, stretched and re-welded by me. I’ve seen the DRatv ones and considered it, but me living in Canada and the outrageous shipping costs that absolutely break the deal!

I have my eye on the Dratv battery box. Holding off for now. But I'll be ordering a lot of odds and ends from them.

I drained the fuel out of the carburetor and disconnected the throttle cable today. Now all that needs loosened on the engine is the exhaust and the top mounting bolt. Then I can pull the engine out of the chopper frame and swap to the CT70 frame. I know progress has been pitifully slow. Just got a lot going on in life that is higher priority right now. Trying to do something small each time I'm out in the garage. Just to keep progress moving. Otherwise progress won't move at all.

Finally got time to swap the engine over to the CT70 frame. Everything went pretty good. Only thing that wasn't great is the threads on the 4 bolts that hold the foot pegs on 1 is really crossthreaded, 2 are not aweful, and 1 is great. I'm hoping that chasing the threads and new bolts will help it hold. What's your guy's thoughts? Other than that, I'm super stoked that it is finally starting to look like a full bike. Still have to sort out all the wiring.
