Hello all,
Would any of you be opposed to a resto-mod 1979 ATC70 thread being started on here in the future? First of all I do not want to upset anyone by just starting a thread like that. By doing so maybe I can bounce ideas off of individuals on here who are versed in these little guys? Thanks guys

Im more of a purist, but it's yours. Knock yourself out.lol. Don't think I've ever seen a 3wheeler resto mod before.

Atc 70? There's a viable 4 speed in those cases you know....
Just kidding. I'd take a gander at whatever. If it's fast, just make sure you keep it in a straight line.... there's a reason modern 3 wheelers have 2 up front and one in back. With the exception of Harley's anyways.

bring it on!! I'm gonna be starting an atc90 soon! Some crazy cool trikes out there and some really crazy things they did back in the day.

I'd like to see a thread,it is after all a lilhonda. Just make sure it says atc in the thread title so if someone complains they got no excuse- they didn't have to click on it :)

Yes, bring it. Some very cool resto-mod ATC 70's over on PM. Would enjoy seeing one come together here too.

Go for it...it would be something a little different. We used to have a Big Red 250 when I was a kid...I remember flipping it over once trying to take a corner too fast. I think I was 6 or 7 (and probably too little to be riding one that size...but I'm still here today).

Like taking a wheel off the front end of your skateboard and expecting it to carve properly, LOL... :13:

But more power to the OP, I'd like to see a JATO unit on that restomod trike, that would make for some interesting Hero cam footage, LOL... :43:

Ok all, I will move forward with it. It may be a little slow going since I'm starting with just a frame an forks. I will start a fresh thread titled atc70 resto-mod. Got some big things planned. Thanks guys

With that in mind, I don't say it's a perfect basis for modification. And now, if the opportunity presents itself, I won't go looking for a 4 speed in an early atc block....

4-speed, OEM, transmissions were used well into the 12v era. It's just that most were not available stateside. The ATC was the lone exception. Across the pond, the 12v C90 was the motor of choice...12v/CDI electrics, GB5 cases (needle bearings, in place of bronze inserts) and the newest version of the 4-speed gearbox. Last I checked, circa 2010, all of the parts could still be ordered but, it's a major p.i.t.a. and co$tly. Not worth the price of admission, to me...YOMD. Don't misunderstand, it's good tranny, OEM Honda quality. It's roughly the same price as a Takegawa 4-speed, only that assembly is sold as a complete kit.

As I head into Memorial Day Weekend and the Indy 500, I'm wondering how this project is going... I never could ride those trikes for $h!t, I'm used to 2 or 4 wheels on the trail, but it sounds like a cool project for one who can keep those things upright. This from a hand who crashed his two-wheeler on the Rim Road nearly three weeks ago, LOL. :43:
