"Were going to need a bigger shoehorn!!"

Cut up the exhaust today, going to shorten it 3.250 then the notch for shock clearence in the muffler will line up with the shock.

Welded it up today, Also welded up the front cradle engine mount. Just have to take care of the rear muffler mount.

Very nice fabricating work, Grant. It starts to look like factory built :9: . Do you have a chance to rise the rear end of the pipe a bit? Might look more Dax-like then.

Agreed, but there doesn't appear to be sufficient room to raise the pipes & muffler the CT70/Dax height and still fit the LH air filter.

Grant...you deserve a merit badge for bravery on this mod. Few guys would have the stones to cut an original CL exhaust in nice shape these days as they're in short supply.:41:

Thanks guys, When it was all welded up there is just enough room for the air cleaners. If someone else does one of these you might try adding concaves to the frame where the carbs sit so you could run the orignal intakes, then have more room for a higher exhaust. But your going to loose room for the tank and electrics....So we have a trade off, Or a single carb kicked off to the right of the bike and exhaust on the left. but I wanted to run twin carbs. even thought about kicking the exhaust up after the air filters but think it would start looking like a after market piece. The other option would be down swept CB like pipes, but I've been trying to keep the CT theme. Thanks to everone for the ideas, I'm working on headlite mounts now, and this week will yank the eng and see what's going on in there, no compresion in one hole, looks like someone has had the head off, maybe out of time, or bent valve or worse never know what suprise's lurk from within...lol

Don't feel bad, I just cut some CL pipes to build a 2-2 for my cafe build.

Was working on headlite mounting this week. Needed something to fit the 44mm invereted forks.

First cut out paper dolls to look like KO fork ears, next make collers, shape them with some angles on the side, make the plates and drill them, then weld them up. I think I'm going to paint them when I paint the bike to make them blend more...

Hey, don't pick on my crown, I'm very sensetive!!! lol! I'm sticking to my orignal plan, to look as much like a early KO as possible, something adults and kids can identifly with, something Honda might have made. Although I did think about cutting up some fold up bars to make shorter, almost clip-on type bars.

Looks good Grant.
Every time you post pics my brain says oooooh that would look sweet all polished up. Hint hint, the sweet head light bracket you made.

I agree -- those original style bars will look great .

Watch Dupa , With that California sunshine you'll make him crash again !!! :4:

The chainguard is done, Also the rear brake linkage and brake light pull. Miker has the frame and its primered now, will be painted soon, Dupa is polishing the eng covers Now I will really need sunglasses! I have the engine apart it needs a little love but hopefully will make a showing. special thanks to all that jumped on and helped, like Miker, Mike Vrodsss, Dennisd, Dupa, Harry, Don, and everyone else. I'm still floored with all the good people that pitched in, and made this possible! You do meet the nicest people on a Honda.:41:

Boy is that neat looking. But it looks like you are going to have to put a stop in the forks so the tire doesn't hit your exhaust pipes. Keep up the good work!
