Remember, CJ, you & your family are always welcome here, you can even borrow the bikes... just fix whatever ya break, LOL. That rest I had earlier paid off, my knee felt okay enough to get out and water the entire yard. Beautiful afternoon here, with that breeze ratcheting down and the atmospheric temperature just perfect. Yeah, these White Mountains are mighty pretty, and there are thicker forest sections too, with sparse "cedar country" farther out to the north... eventually, it all turns to high desert this side of Holbrook. Off to the east we have higher peaks, that's where the ski & snowboard resorts are and they're only an hour or so away. In between and scattered throughout these White Mtns. are a number of primo mountain lakes, all very beautiful and stocked with fish too, LOL. Across the NM line to the east, the Elk Mtns. rise to something like 13000', and THAT whole mountain paradise isn't far away either... I gotta tell y'all, after living here for just seven or eight months, I don't plan on ever going back to city life, there's just too much outdoor recreation to enjoy here for sportsmen, riders of every kind, simple lovers of nature and wildlife, you name it.
When I pulled all that web research back on the coast, waiting for the ol' hacienda to sell, I looked at half a dozen different factors or criteria in various states: strength of the local economy, home prices, taxes, demographics, crime, and outdoor recreation opportunities. I thought that Clinton douche was gonna get elected, so it was important for me to be free & clear, be in a place with a robust economy, and have plenty of things to do right near my new home. Show Low has it all, I still can't believe how lucky I was to find this primo forest sanctuary... what amounts to a four-bedroom home for a lousy 53K, LOL. Granted, I sank more money into it, but now it's worth way more than what I originally paid, 10-4? I'm not gonna flip it, though, I love this new home o' mine so much that I intend to plane out and die right here in Show Low... this is the Alamo for me, you understand, I don't plan on ever moving again. And as far as recreation goes, I have enough here in the White Mtns. to keep me busy till the day I die, not to mention Lake Powell right up the scenic back roads, the whole Four Corners area not far away, the Elk Mtns. across the NM line... with primo wilderness in every area. :30:
That's the key to freedom in this Brave New Third World: getting out into the wilderness where you can still do practically anything you want, no lyin' badge bullies or corrupt robed sodomite judges in sight, and GOOD RIDDANCE. Here in Show Low, demographics are good, the town is mostly white and we don't have all the crime and reverse racist bullsh!t associated with lowland ethnics. The Injuns I've met have been totally cool, though they have an ingrained distrust of the white man... can't really blame 'em for that, I'd probably feel the same way in light of historical events. I'm not talking about Casino Indians either, I mean the hardcore Apache who have a spiritual connection to their ancestral mountain home... I feel that spiritual connection myself, it's very powerful here in the wilderness. I've spent most of my recreational life in the field, and I know a cool outdoor venue when I see one. This place is now my physical and spiritual home, as much as Los Coronados used to be my spiritual home off the northern end of Baja... awesome wildlife there too, but too much b.s. involved to get there nowadays. No worries, I'm one of "The Forest People" now, and I'm happy right where I am. CHEERS!!! :common001:
